Queens Park remain in the hunt for a third-place finish after deservedly picking up all three points against a stubborn East Fife outfit.

The Spiders started the match in style, scoring within the opening 90 seconds. The Fifers' Graeme Mathie brought down Anthony Quinn on the edge of the area, and Ross Clark netted from the resulting free-kick with a curling right-foot effort into the bottom corner of the net.

The home side went close to doubling their advantage after 19 minutes, but veteran striker Ally Graham headed straight at the keeper from Paul Harvey's free-kick.

But it was the visitors who netted the equaliser minutes later as gaps started to emerge in the home defence. Stevie Nicholas broke free down the right flank and crossed for the unmarked Jon Mitchell, who had the simple task of side-footing home from six yards.

The Fifers were not level for long though as the Spiders re-took the lead. Seventeen-year-old Richard Bowers netted for the second time in three matches with a cool finish into the bottom corner of the net.

The Fifers almost equalised before the break, but Queens Park captain Daniel Ferry was alert to clear off the line from Greig McDonald's header.

Bowers had two excellent chances to increase Queens' lead after the break, but the teenager saw his first effort well saved and sent his second chance wide of the target.
