Queens in seventh heaven

Table-topping Queen of the South stretched their lead at the top of the Second Division to seven points with a 1-0 home win over East Fife.

Derek Lyle headed the only goal of the game after four minutes after Chris Mitchell's cross from the right picked him out inside the six-yard box.

Lee Robinson preserved the host's lead with a parrying save to keep out Paul Willis' shot from the edge of the area.

At the other end, opposing number one Calum Antell did well to thwart Gavin Reilly on two separate occasions before half-time.

Antell was called into action again early in the second half, this time to deny Nicholas Clark, as the league leaders threatened a second goal.

Lyle, Clark and Reilly all had chances to make it 2-0 but in the end one goal was enough.
