Shire gained their first away win of the season, despite referee Chris Boyle awarding two penalties to East Fife.

The manager-less Fifers almost got off to the perfect start in the first minute, but Derek Jackson held on to Greig McDonald's header.

East Stirling had not won on the road in 25 attempts, and were out of luck after 23 minutes when John Dodds, J saved from Scott Livingstone's diving header.

Craig Smart and John Bradford both sent efforts whistling over Jackson's bar before Shire stung them after 55 minutes. The Fife defence stood still and Steven Dymock ran on to Jordan Smith's punt and poked the ball under the keeper.

East Fife tried to hit back, but Kevin Gordon's cross-shot bounced off the bar, Smart saw a shot hacked away by Smith.

After 66 minutes Smith brought down John Martin for a penalty, but Smart crashed the spot-kick off the bar.

However, referee Boyle enraged Shire again on 73 minutes when Martin went down after a challenge by Mark Tyrrell. Marco Pelosi made no mistake from the spot, and Smith almost grabbed the winner with a pile-driver that Jackson somehow got a hand to.

But with just eight minutes left, Paul Tyrrell, converted a loose ball after East Fife failed to clear. To make matters worse, Pelosi was given a straight red card after 89 minutes for a last-man foul on Dymock.
