Promotion-favourites Berwick steamrollered a poor Fife side with Gareth Hutchison a standout.

Former Manchester United youngster Graeme Port made his debut for East Fife and his new team were almost ahead after five minutes when Greig McDonald headed wide.

But it was downhill for Jim Moffat's men from then on and after eight minutes Ian Little found the net with an angled shot from the edge of the box.

Kevin McLeish slammed in a penalty in 11 minutes after a great passing move ended with McDonald tripping Hutchison.

Fife keeper John Dodds then made a fine stop from a Hutchison header but was embarrassed when Kevin Haynes nipped in front of him after 33 minutes and nodded the ball over him.

Craig Lumsden cleared from under his crossbar, but from the corner an unmarked Hutchison headed home from three yards out.

The big striker dominated the Fife backline and poked a shot of the post on 62 minutes.

Strike partner Haynes was also having a fine game and clipped the ball over Dodds moments later only to see the ball bounce off the bar.

Substitute Gordon Connelly completed the Fifer's misery when he dived to head the fourth goal after 66 minutes.

Berwick manager John Coughlan rested Haynes after 71 minutes, but there was no respite as livewire Kevin Gordon quickly forced Dodds into two fine stops.
