Sons rise above Fife

Dumbarton leapfrogged East Fife in the table as they completed an emphatic double over East Fife with a 3-0 victory.

Though there was never likely to be a repeat of the 6-0 thrashing in August, Dumbarton were always in control and Scott Agnew curled in a peach of a free-kick to open the scoring after half an hour.

Bryan Prunty, who scored four in the reverse fixture, set up fellow striker Mark Gilhaney to double the home side's lead on the hour mark.

Agnew then teed up Alan Lithgow to slot past Michael Brown in the East Fife goal from inside the box as the home side went into cruise control with 20 minutes left.

Robert Linn twice came close for the visitors late on but nothing would deny Dumbarton the most routine of victories.
