Fifers down Airdrie

East Fife took a further step away from the relegation zone after coming from behind to beat Airdrie 3-1 at the Excelsior Stadium.


Airdrie went ahead in the 17th minute when Liam Watt threaded a ball through for Lewis Coult, who slotted into the top corner for his sixth goal of the season.


Willie Aitchison's men drew level before the break when Gregor Buchanan turned the ball into his own net.


Ross Brown got on the end of Stephen Hughes' pass into the six-yard box to give the visitors the lead with 20 minutes remaining.


The visitors secured the win after Hughes' free-kick arrowed into the top corner for his first goal of the season.
