East Fife ended a dreadful run of away day misery with a 2-1 win over Queens Park at Hampden but were made to sweat at the end.

Confidence wasn't high going into the game but the Fifers came out on fire playing some good football. Queens players looked shocked that East Fife could actually pass the ball.

Midway through the half Greig McDonald was brought down just yards outside the area and Brian Fairbairn stood up to strike a superb free kick over the wall and into the back of the net.

Queens Park couldn't get their act together and just before half time it was 2-0 a Fairbairn cross from the left was met by Greig McDonald into the net much to the delight of the big travelling support.

Into the second half and you would have thought East Fife would go for the killer 3rd goal. How wrong were the fans to be.

East Fife were on the back foot for the next 45 minutes and opted to punt the ball instead of playing the good football from the first half much to the frustration of the Fife support. Chance after chance came for the hosts and went begging until they got their breakthrough. a Shot from 30 yards took a wicked deflection off Kris Brash and flew into the net. 2-1 game on.

Time got slower and 90 minutes looked like never coming. Kris Brash had to be alert to head a shot off the line. With only seconds remaining a shot fizzed across the goal mouth with only a simple touch needed but no one was there and the chance wasted. East Fife held on for the win much to the dismay of the home fans.

Final Score at Hampden: Queens Park 1 - 2 East Fife
