East Fife V Ayr at Bayview Stadium - Match Preview

Muir missing for Fifers

East Fife will be without David Muir when they welcome Ayr to New Bayview as the defender is suffering from a foot injury.

Also missing from the Fifers' ranks is striker Gareth Wardlaw (illness) and with Collin Samuel and Darren Smith both facing fitness tests, manager Billy Brown has delayed announcing his starting XI.

Whatever line-up Brown opts for, his players will be warned not to underestimate the Honest Men, with Brown saying: "In our last game against Ayr they were sensational for the first half and were two up.

"We fought our way back and won 3-2, but if they had played like they started for the entire game we would have suffered a heavy defeat.

"Knowing what they are capable of has put me on guard."

Ayr include former Cowdenbeath, Partick and Dunfermline striker Liam Buchanan in their squad after a deal was agreed until the end of the season.

The Honest Men will, however, be missing Martyn Campbell and Michael McGowan through knee injuries, with Darren McGill and Mark Shankland both facing fitness tests.

Somerset Park player-manager Mark Roberts said: "Liam's arrival has given everyone a lift and I'm sure that that will get taken onto the park. He had a short spell at Airdrie recently, so he is in good shape.

"The last time we played East Fife we showed both sides of our character as we were great and then poor as we lost 3-2. I only want to see the great side in this game."
